If you are under 18 years old, these are the following steps you need to complete in order to obtain your Driver's License:

1) Complete an Online Drivers Education Course and obtain a DL-400C Certificate of Completion. 

2) When you are at least 15 ½ years old, you can take the DL-400C Certificate to the DMV and pass a knowledge exam to receive your permit. 

3) Once you have your permit, you are required to take your first Behind the Wheel driving lesson before you can use the permit at home. During the first lesson, the instructor will sign the permit which will validate it and allow you to practice with a parent or guardian over the age of 25.

4)  To be eligible for the Behind the Wheel Test, you are required to hold your permit for a MINIMUM of 6 months from the day you passed your knowledge test(the issue date on the permit). After the first 2 hours of instruction, you will need to take 4 more hours(6 hours total) with us in order to receive the Certificate of Completion of 6 hours(DL 400D).  You are also required to practice at home a total of 50 hours with a parent, guardian, or a driver who is at least 25 years old and has a CA Driver's License.

5) Once you have held your permit for 6 months, obtained a Certificate of Completion of 6 hours from us, and practiced 50 hours at home, you are eligible for your driving test.

6) You can schedule your driving test through the DMV website.

7) Remember to bring your permit, Certificate of Completion, vehicle regristration and vehicle insurance to your drive test appointment.

If you are over 18 years old, you must still obtain your CA Learners Permit before you are eligible to receive your CA Driver's License. As long as your permit is not expired, you can practice with someone who holds a CA Driver's License and is at least 25 years old. There is no waiting period in regards to holding the permit. Even though you are not required to take Behind the Wheel Lessons with us, it is still optional and can be beneficial in helping you pass your Behind the Wheel Test and learning how to drive in general.

The DMV requires each student to complete six hours of behind-the-wheel training with a certified instructor. This training is divided into three 2-hour lessons. Students must also complete 50 hours of supervised driving with a parent or adult 25 years of age or older with a valid California driver's license. Ten of these hours must be at night. Students under the age of 17 1/2 years old may not drive with a parent until they have completed their first behind-the-wheel lesson with an instructor.

The DMV requires that students complete at least 50 hours of driving with a parent or adult over the age of 25 who has a valid California driver license. At least 10 hours must be done at night. The DMV requires the parent or guardian to sign the second page of the permit, verifying that the recommended 50 hours have been completed by the student.

Even though a student has been issued a permit from the DMV, it is not valid for students to drive with anyone until after completing the first behind-the-wheel training session with a licensed driving instructor. Our main business office is located in Poway, CA, and we offer home pick up and drop off in the areas of Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Sabre Springs, Carmel Mountain Ranch, Rancho Penasquitos, 4S Ranch, Carmel Valley, Scripps Ranch, Mira Mesa, Escondido, and some parts of San Marcos. If you are outside of our service zone, you can always meet at our office in Poway for your driving lessons.

Yes, all students are covered under our insurance while on lessons.  

We typically do not allow a passenger to come along on lessons in order to minimize distractions. If you need special arrangements please contact us to discuss options. 

We do not offer in person drivers education. However we do have our online drivers education course which is 30 hours long and costs $39.99.
